CAPISTRANO VALLEY HIGH

COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION 

 

General Information:  Graduation will be held Thursday, May 30th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in Cougar Stadium. For safety and security, school and stadium gates will remain closed to visitors during the school day and will NOT be opened to visitors until 2:00 p.m.  Please do not arrive before this time.  Due to the volume of people attending the ceremony, attendees are NOT allowed to save seats in the stands.  Stadium capacity is 2,500 (approximately 5 guests per graduate).  There are no tickets.  Seating is first come, first served.

 

Parking Options:  General parking is available in the upper student lot, the lower student lot, Stoneybrooke (after 3:20 pm), and at Saddleback College (there may be a minimal charge of $2 for a day pass).  Limited handicapped parking will be available to those who have a valid handicapped placard on a first-come first-serve basis.  After all available handicapped parking is filled; a handicap drop-off area and shuttle will be available in front of the small gym beginning at 2:30 p.m.  The shuttle will take handicapped persons and one assist person only to the stadium for seating in a special area.  Drivers and other guests must then park in the specified lots above and make their way to the general seating areas.  Uber and Lyft drop-off may take place in the lower staff lot as well

 

After the ceremony:  No visitors will be allowed on the field.  However, immediately following the ceremony, graduates will recess to the quad between the gym and the M-Building where they can then meet their families and pick up their diplomas.

Rehearsal begins at 9:00a.m. Thursday morning (Graduation Day, May 30th), with all seniors reporting to the large gym.  Seniors will then be given their row assignment along with directions for the processional, seating and the ceremony. If you do not attend rehearsal you will not participate in the ceremony

 

Plan to get a ride to the school from your parents or other family.  You won't want to have extra cars at school after the ceremony.

 

Please arrive to the gym in appropriate attire NO LATER than 2:30 p.m.  You may only bring a wallet and car/house keys if necessary.   No cell phones, iPods, flowers or leis are permitted, unless culturally appropriate.  All such items will be confiscated at check-in, so please do NOT bring them.

 

All students must bring their Capistrano Valley custom CV cap, gown, tassel, and medal (if awarded) to the gym.  (Do NOT wear your cap and gown to the gym prior to check-in; please just carry these items until after you have been checked-in.)

 

 

NHS, Drama, Key Club, Capo Media, ASB & AVID stoles, and ATMS, CSF, VAPA, and Link Crew cords are the only additional items that may be worn during the ceremony.  No other group regalia may be worn, unless culturally appropriate. 

 

Diplomas:  Please pick up your diploma outside the stadium near the M-Building.  Thank you.
