CAPISTRANO VALLEY HIGH

Since 2016, Capistrano Valley High School has been proud to offer its award-winning Two-Way Immersion Spanish (TWIS) program. Designed to foster high levels of proficiency in both English and Spanish, the program also promotes cultural appreciation and understanding. It’s important to note that CVHS is the only high school in CUSD to offer two distinct Language Immersion Programs:  

 Mandarin and Spanish. 

 

Students enrolled in the Two-Way Immersion Spanish program at Capistrano Valley High School have the unique opportunity to practice the target language daily, both orally and in writing. At CVHS, students and families can expect rigorous instruction that promotes advanced cognitive use of the language, as well as a comprehensive, school-wide environment that nurtures bilingualism, academic excellence, and cultural appreciation. The program also emphasizes the development and preservation of students' home and target language skills.

 

Our TWI Spanish Program is anchored to the three pillars of dual language: 

 

Goal 1: Bilingualism/Biliteracy: Students develop high levels of language proficiency in both program languages.

Goal 2: Academic Achievement: Students demonstrate high levels of academic achievement in two languages.

Goal 3: Sociocultural Competence: Students develop an appreciation for and an understanding of diverse cultures.
