EL SALVADOR 2014

Surfer riding a wave
I have been coaching the boys and girls surf team for the last fourteen years at Capistrano Valley High School. I have a beautiful wife and three great kids (Wyatt 12, Kaiya 10, Mykah 8 years old). I have been teaching Fine Arts at Capo for the last nineteen years. I was raised in Dana Point since I was six and currently reside in San Juan Capistrano. As an avid surfer, it is a great opportunity for me to help spread the passion for competitive surfing and the environment.

Since the Capistrano Valley surf team has been in the Capistrano Coast League the girls have held eight league championships. The boys have won four league championships over the past fourteen years. We have qualified for the Scholastic Surf Series State Finals for the last fourteen years and have won the boys long board division four times and the girls short board twice. The overall championship has eluded us for the past ten years, as we have been runner up six times. 2014-16 we finish 3 place in the over all of 16 schools. This year could be our year. We are a young group surfing in all Varsity events. These young rippers are killing it out in the water and we only expect great things to come. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am a firm believer in not only getting kids to ride waves but build an appreciation for the ocean and the environment. The surf team has been a part of Surfrider Foundation's Blue Water Task Force for the last four years doing water and soil samples. All our team members are also part of the C.V.H.S. Surfrider Foundation Chapter. Our Team riders learn about the different breaks they ride as well as how important it is to keep our water clean.

Thank you for stopping in and checking out the site. See you in the water.
